Indications for use:

  Functional cast bracing – Provide controlled immobilisation while allowing limited joint movement.

The Beagle Orthopaedic Cast Hinges feature a proven range of motion (ROM) hinge, designed for precise flexion and extension adjustments while the brace is on the patient. The anti-tamper screw securely locks the hinge at the desired setting, ensuring stability and preventing unwanted adjustments. An innovative alignment jig with integrated magnetic centres in the side arms enables quick-release functionality, allowing for precise hinge alignment while minimising lateral and collateral shear forces on the knee.

Designed for functional cast bracing, the hinges support controlled movement while maintaining immobilisation, promoting early mobilisation and enhancing fracture healing. Research by Prof. Sarmiento has shown that functional cast bracing improves patient outcomes by facilitating micro-motion, increasing blood flow to soft tissue and the fracture site, and enabling earlier ambulation compared to traditional static casting methods.
