Full Description
The OrthoWedge® Off-Loading Shoe from DARCO is designed to protect the forefoot and promote faster healing after surgery, trauma, ulcers and infections. By reducing the weight and pressure, a 57% reduction in metatarsal head pressure and 75% reduction in hallux toe pressure is achieved during the weight-bearing portion of the gait cycle.
The 15° wedge sole shifts weight back to the midfoot and heel. The square toe design acts as a bumper to protect the toes when K-wires are present and provides a better fit for the left or right foot by eliminating toe overhang and the wide base provides extra stability.
The ankle strap eliminates heel slippage and removable forefoot closure eliminates buckle pressure and the wide base provides extra stability and the 10mm removable insole is fully customisable with over twice the padding.
The square toe design acts as a bumper to provide additional protection when K-wires are present, and it provides better universal left or right fit.
Indications for use:
- Forefoot ulcerations
- Post surgical healing and forefoot trauma
- Pressure off-load of the forefoot
- Wounds or ulcerations present under metatarsal heads and toes
- Used postoperatively after procedures to correct Hallux valgus, hammer toes/tailor’s bunions
Features and benefits:
- Replaceable insole also available
- The ankle strap seats the foot firmly into the shoe to reduce heel slippage and eliminate friction
